WM6.1 Rom for Treo 700wx - Finally!

Hey NightRaven! Thanks for the wonderful custom WM 6.1 rom for the 700wx. My VZW Treo went from antiquated to relevant in 15 minutes! Though I can't send MMS messages, I still can receive them. And the threaded SMS is a treat! Again, GREAT JOB! By the way, any suggestion for a safe (and free) regeditor for this custom ron?

Just a FYI to my "can't send MMS" issue: I'm receive this error message, "Delivery Failed An unspecified error (0x84) occurred while sending this message. Originator Address Not Found." Installed the "GC VZW Arcsoft MMS 5.0.70.24.cab" onto the device. MMS (still) can't be sent.

I installed Verizon - Release 1.3 Build 20931 on my 700wx twice now and i cant get sms messaging to split into 2 messages after 160 characters? It looks as if the application is designed to split the message into 2 or more after 160 but it just stops allowing text entry and starts beeping?
I searched thru several threads in several different forums without any answers.
I am convinced it is a simple 1 or 0 in the wrong place in the registry but havent found anything that looks out of place.
I have tried several different patches and found 1 that worked "Palm_Threaded_SMS". With that application the split after 160 worked fine I just could not send or receive MMS's? Went through several different settings and still could not get the MMS to send.
So I am coming back to where I got the ROM hoping to find a answer.

You are correct. It is a very simple registry entry. No need to keep reflashing your ROM. It is listed somewhere in this long tread. The key is below.

Increase SMS Limit From 1 To 10 Messages.

This makes it so you can exceed the 160 character limit when writing text messages. By increasing it from 1 to 10 it gives you a 1600 character limit.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\palm\varnish\messaging\sms
MaxPartsPerMsg to 10 (from 1)

I dont know if its the search feature on this site or more likely I just dont know what exactly to search for but I got another issue.
When I receive a MMS video the video comes through as a series of pictures all of the same picture, looks to be the same picture of the first frame of video.
I'm sure another setting in the reg somewhere.

Or

A missing dll. ?


Any ideas?

Hi, i am new at this aswell, but if i am not mistaken their is a soft ware on ebay for $15.00 and i think it unlocks and flashes.

I'm so glad that the 700wx isn't completely out in the cold yet. I'm dusting off Treo700wx after a few years and decided to update it to 6.1. Everything went fine. I can make calls and even used XCPU to overclock and am getting a very stable 626 Mhz, which was an issue on wm5. It runs very nice and is faster then my Touchpro.

For some reason I can't get data to work. I did do a search but the terms I used didn't turn up anything fruitful. Any suggestions? I did try going into settings/personal/phone/services/internet but the internet tab was not there. I also tried ##data# and updating that way but no luck. Any other suggestions?

I do have a HTC Vogue, RevA, that is cloned to the esn of the Treo700wx. I only turn on one phone at a time. Could it be that because the Treo is power vision and the Vogue is on a faster data, for some reason my account is locked on the faster plan? With the Treo's esn the Vogue still gets 1.8Mbps down and 400Kbps so Sprint hasn't done anything. I just remember that when I switched off the TREO in the past the rep mentioned that they had to change from power vision to vision.

I mainly want to use the Treo for long trips because I have a the bigger battery for it but I don't need all the time. I really don't like logging into Sprint and changing the phone online. Everytime I change Sprint sends me a new welcome pack, trying to save a few trees.

Nevermind, I ended up using Google and it pointed me back to thread to post 50 something. I just called sprint for my msl# and did the following:

##rtn# /options/rtn reset/enter msl
after reboot
##mslnumber# and enter mdn (phone number) and msid. I got that from other phone using ##data#.
then finally ##data#/update profile

I guess my passwords were outdated.

Any ideas folks? Still looking for a solution to this.
Also could use verizons ##3282# settings, trying a rom reinstall hoping to fix no data or mms
