How to input Ping-yin

In order for me to text messaging from US with someone in China, I had to use Ping Yin (alphabet for Chinese). But the new layout of Shadow's keypad plus predictive text made it impossible. Is the predictive text scheme for Tmobile Shadow T9? How do I disable it? Any tip on how to use Ping Yin with this new design of keypad? Does someone know of a rom for Juno in Simplified Chinese? TIA a whole bunch.
