Default phone or usb stick

Hi all i have the touch diamond(t-mobile type)

Its says rated at 7.2 but here is the question, i have web and walk plus so use the phone by plugging it into my laptop to get on the net.

Is if faster to get one of t-mobile`s usb stick`s mobile broadband modem or is the phone just as fast?

Thanks Dave

Don't know how fast the sticks get, but I easily get 200kbyte/sec with the phone on bluetooth ... I really don't NEED more to browse while travelling

If you use the phone via USB and use HSDPA I think they would be pretty much the same? why don't you test and let us all know how the diamond performs against a dedicated HSDPA/3G dongle? I don't think you max the Diamonds potential under good conditions via Bluetooth.

DONATE TO ME
Since T-Mo don't have full 7.2MB HSDPA, it shouldn't make much difference.

The speeds are more likely to be dependant on what signal you can get that on the hardware itself, as most (if not all) operators do not have support for the latest HSDPA/HSUPA speeds.

T-mobile says there speeds will be fast very soon, i cant do a speed test on both as i dont have the usb type modem.

Web and walk plus added to your phone is @ £12.50 per month but if you buy a usb modem the cost is £15 a month,
yeah its only £2.50 more a month and less messing about with separate units so might go down that route if speeds are not much different.

Here in Denmark on 3 network, you are actually given a lower speed on your mobile simcard.
I had only 200kb download, and called my provider (3) and complained about the speed, and they changed my speed. So now I have around 2Mb download instead.
Maybe íts the same for other providers as well? :)

I also use 3 but in sweden and here they have a maximum dlspeed of 0.384mbps as a default but you can upgrade it to 7.2mbps down and 0.384 up for the same amount you pay for a dongle and then get an unlimited dataplan.

OT:
As far as I know the Diamond supports speed up to 7.2 so I'd say that if all you do on internet is browsing, mailing, IM, and downloading you shouldn't have any problems with using your phone. (I even tried using mine for gaming and even though i ping high on css I'm able to play strategy games without probs..)
