My suggestion is to try again. I know they work because I used to use them but no anymore since I got a new phone.

GPS ability for people with no data plan?
Hi,
I picked up an XV6800 (verizon) and awaiting delivery as that's one of the last phones to be exempt from the now required data plan. While looking for 6.5 or 6.5.3 ROMs, I came across this discussion about GPS. Aside from posts on page 49, has there been any success with getting GPS to work on the phone without using Verizon's program? Goal would be to have GPS and not be tied to a data plan.
Appreciate any advice.
Best Regards

I still have xv6800 now being used by my daughter (no data plan) and just checked it is working without data plan in fulll standalone mode (takes a long time to acquire satellites).
Here is what I have and it works fine, except that it is in standalone mode and takes 2-3 minutes to latch on to a satellite.
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\Mode = 0
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEAddress = 5C8BC6D8
HKLM\Software\Valhalla Legends\GPSServer\PDEPort = 8889
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 0
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableGPSSmartmode = 0
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 1
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\ServerIP = 216.198.139.92
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\ServerPort = 8889
Using QPST I added the following in the gpsOne tab:
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = DBM
Position Calculation = PDE
Current Phone:
Verizon HTC Trophy
ChevronWP7 Unlocked
Key Apps: Navigon,
Old Phone:
Verizon Touch Pro2
MR3 (Windows Mobile 6.5)
Key Apps:Garmin Mobile XT, CleanRAM,
PHM Regedit, Total Commander, Google Maps, etc.,

Hi DSRAMESH,
Thank you for the reply. I've been reading so many threads that I'm now more confused than before. To make it work in standalone mode, did you follow the instructions in this thread alone?
I have dowloaded Valhalla, qpst, wmmodemdriver from this link:
http: //wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanGpsFix
Do you recall if these are the steps you took?
Thank you so much for your time.

I did what I said above, the only change is that:
HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\GPSMode = 2 not "1".
- Please change the settings from "1" to "2" and retry.
I just rechecked all the settings.
I loaded Valhalla and reboot, then set the settings as listed and reboot. Used qpst and set the settings there also and rebooted.
First time around it takes a long time and can take more than 5 minutes. Leave in the charger, next to the window either using Google maps (via wifi) or Garmin or other gps tools to find satellites. Or stay in the open area for a while without moving much.

..Ramesh

Thank you DSRAMESH. I finally had time from a busy work week. I used your settings and it worked!!! You are right, it takes a long time for that initial lock. But once locked, it worked. If I may add a few notes from my experience so that it may help someone else.
1) Setup as dsramesh outlined
2) If the initial setup for PDE Transport of DBM takes a long time (over 10 minutes for me), then try setting PDE transport to IP. This seem to have shorten the lock time by half for me. Could be result of residual memory.
3) While standing still, it didn't lock onto any satellites. When I started to drive/walk around the neighborhood, it finally locked on. This happened a few times so for me it seemed to help when in motion.
BIG THANK YOU TO DSRAMESH FOR TAKING TIME TO HELP A NEWBIE!!!

Glad to be of help and glad it worked for you.
Too keep the gps primed, try gpstoday and turn off all settings for data in their setup.

dsramesh!!! Thank you so much! Ive been trying to figure out how to get standalone gps working for almost a week now. Came to the conclusion that it wouldn't work unless I flashed it so I was reading up on how to flash.
Being a noob to flashing phones I was very put off by the idea of possibly bricking my phone. I've edited phone registry before and knew that much at least. After trying everything I noticed your post with the settings you listed.
I then realized I tried everything but using qpst and after putting that info in the phone it connected in a matter of secs id say 30 tops after that its been connecting almost instantly.
Thank you again so much only top side of not finding this earlier is I read into the phone a lot more :/ Going to test out how accurate the gps is using garmin xt driving around town but so far it seems good. Picked up 9 satellites btw.
