Default cab

Could some one be kindly to make a cab to run that would permit to have without to many things to have the modified icons (whichever there are they look better than original)?

i just installed the shellres .192 cab , i think it messed something up because it keeps saying that it can't copy the shellres.192 file because it already exist , i have lost my custom start icon , what did i do wrong ?

Guys, what a thread!

Thanks for the original battery icons, I've been using them since I got my Diamond.

Today I updated the sound icons, and it looks great (manual approach).

Next I will start fiddling with the rest of the icons

Thanks for all the effort guys!

Well I sorta read a lot of this thread, and I'm sure I skipped past the answer to this question but now I can't seem to find it again. I know it has been answered already so I apologise for thread pollution. The question is why having tried for a couple of hours now and installed a load of icons and certs and reg imports etc do the nice new icons flash up during re-boot and then wave bye bye to leave me looking at the ugly old ones again. I'm sure it's something simple but then so am I.

Edit, It would be cool to have a definitive guide for this with the resources in the Wiki.
Edit2/: Not sure why, but I put all the files I wanted in a .cab installed it and now all the icons are permanent!

you need to unsign the dll before you try and put your custom icons in. also if pe explorer doesn't work try the reshacker app linked on the first page, it works fine.

try renaming the original shellres.192.dll file first before copying in the new one.

or a good tutorial
the original tutorial on the first post is still the same method that works. some people have problems copying in the new dll's once you've already done it once, and the method to fix that which seems to always work is to just rename the original dll before copying in the new one.
