The Sony PSP does system (firmware) updates over the air only (yes, it's possible to also do it by transferring the update file over USB, I know), so it's no problem to pull a few mbytes of data over 3G/WiFi and update the core system.

I thought I heard somewhere it'd be done like the market place, so over the air. Don't know where it was though, so I have no source. Sorry.

Erick Tseng said in one of the release day videos that it would most likely be OTA, but whether it would be push or pull hasn't been decided, and will most likely depend on what developers think is practical or effective (speaking for both the OS as well as app updates).

Speaking of Push and Pull, I ave a windows mobile phone with exchange. I thought exchange was a Push Email, but how is it push if i have to set when for my phone to check with the server? It also has the option to receive immediately, but the phone remains connected to the exchange server constantly. Wouldn't this make it a pull email?

Also, as far as i know, blackberry is a true push email, because they have special servers which contact the phone.

Does anyone know if the android will be a true push email?

It's not a question about Android, but about which mail conduit is being used. Gmail of course supports POP3 and IMAP (both pull), but Erick has also said that it now supports push. So in short, Gmail push: yes (but whether it works as advertised we'll see come Oct 22); other conduits (like Exchange): up to the developers.

I believe there will be updates because there are going to be some bugs when the phone comes out you know.

My T-Mobile Dash OS firmware was updated from WM5 to WM6 through the T-Mobile website via USB on my Home PC. If you log into www.my.t-mobile.com, goto support, goto phone and device, there will be a box to your right that states:

User manual (pdf)
Phone Demo (flash)
Manage Address Book
Software Updates

Click on the Software Upddates and that will guide you through the process.

This will only show up "IF" there is a OS Firmware update

What does this have to do with Android?
