Dear all chefs,

i am sincerely hoping that one of you would be so kind to do a rom with asian regional settings support. For hongkong & taiwan, the wince.nls is close to 1.2mb. altering this will also requires alteration to the rom.

could any chefs be kind enough to help with this?
Panosha? DCS? Hangtuah?

i tried xip porting with the large wince.nls, but after flashing, the device just hangs at the bootscreen, my map.txt does not shows any error and everything seems ok while porting, but it just doesn't boot. i hope someone could help me as well on this.

are you trying to get a ROM thats in chinese, or simply supports chinese char display?

Hi, guys, I'm from China. First, thanks for your efforts. Many people including me would like a ROM with English User Interface, Chinese(PRC/Hongkong/Singapore/Taiwan) regions support and with Microsoft original input method (this is important for type using QWERTY keyboard).

im currently running ROMeOS with CEStar "green-ware " for chinese input using pinyin and handwriting (penpower). it is working pretty well

ce-star aint very compatible with some software.
personally, i am using a push email client on my touch pro. if alterating the wince.nls using ce-star or other software, the push email software will somehow behaves strangely. however, if the chinese regional settings are cooked into the rom, or rather the XIP, then everything will be perfect.

we do not need a rom with chinese display support as fonts can be installed by ourselves. but we do need a rom with asian regional settings support as what "imkow" has said.

i think we are trying to do the same thing altho my case is diamond in japanese.

i am facing the same issue. using bebe's kitchen with htc wwe rom as a base, even if i replace the original wince.nls by another wince.nls which supports asian language, the wince.nls in the cooked rom is the original one. i am not sure if it's the issue of rom or the kitchen because i could replace wince.nls in a polaris rom using the same kitchen. but i am not sure if the xip porting function in the bebe's kitchen is really working with this shipped rom somehow...

using kaiser kitchen, i can rebuild the dumped rom with Part01.raw, Part02.raw and the htc wwe rom without any errors, if i burn it on my diamond, it does not boot at all.

any suggestions or helps?

I will get a X05HT next week and want to find time to do the work.
Hope we can customize a new ROM based on [ROM][WWE] [02.12.08]PROven ROM 1.06 20759 MAX4G build - UNPROTECTED :).

Here is some info about "How to replace WINCE.NLS" in Chinese. Thank pcg
CJK nls and fonts: e-china for Diamond (Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.). Thank asukal.

1. Prepare OS.NB.payload (xip.bin,OEM,SYS)
Be caution! A large WINCE.NLS may push out some modules!
Please make sure your new map includes all modules.

2. Edit xip.bin to replace WINCE.nls (real hard work).
3. Put "e-china for Diamond" to OEM.
4. BuildRom again.

It's kind of hard to do any cooking when no one's uploaded any asian (or Japanese for that matter) roms to base it on. Just putting the wince.nls in a WWE rom won't be enough.

You are right.
It took a whole day work for an Alpha release.
Hope PROven team does not change xip.bin in their next release.
