Exclamation Wiped SD cards and unnecessary TomTom files

A while back I had a scare... my sd card had been wiped!

This is an update, so the first few posts after this are replies from people trying to help.

Since then, I have now come to the conclusion that the problem was down to corrupted files on the sd card. Not necessarily Tomtom files, it may be a photo or video somewhere. But eventually it gets to the rest of the card and causes all or some other files to become corrupted or disappear.

My Tomtom files are on the sd card (although the program is installed onto the device), so one of the first programs to be affected is Tomtom, sometimes suddenly stopping halfway through a journey!

I now keep a copy of vital files for my sd card on my pc. If issues arise, I format the card with a card reader connected to my pc, and then copy and paste the files I stored. So far, I have not seen the problem arise again. Day by day I slowly add photos and videos, as one of them I believe was the root of the problem.

So, my question is:

WHICH TOMTOM FILES DO YOU NEED ON YOUR SD CARD for it to work?

I've deleted quite a few. On my sd card I now only have:

My Documents folder with maps inside
Voices folder
plus the following files:
AutoRun
Autorun.exe-run
Start
TTN
TTN2003
ttnavigator.bif[/I]

I have lost the 2257 file (that apparently causes automatic self install of Tomtom when you insert the card) so if anyone has that I'd like it back!!!

(I appreciate there is the "tidy up" option of chucking any mystery files into a folder, but I like to know what all files on my sd card are actually doing!)

When I bought my Trinity off ebay, it came with TomTom on the card. Whenever I flashed a new ROM, I reinserted the sd card and TomTom would happily self install automatically.

I'm worried now because I read on TomTom site that if you buy TomTom, you can only use it on one device!?

Is this correct??? That is useless to me as I flash my device with a new ROM every 2 weeks at least! It can't be right.... can it?? Everyone here flashes like maniacs but only buy TomTom once, no???

How is it that the TomTom on my sd card worked after any flash I did???

More importantly, how do I now get TomTom back on my device. I'm happy to buy it off official website, but not if it doesn't work after I flash my device with a new ROM!

I really need TomTom installed again on my device a.s.a.p for work purposes..... What do I do??? Your help is greatly appreciated! !

stop crying.. what was your version of tomtom?

If your map is activated, there's no reason for it to disappear when you're flashing your device. Just don't remove TomTom's files from SD card and it will be OK !

Which is exactly what happened!

I think I solved it now, buy it would be good to hear from people who have had the same issues, and the solutions they found.

Having noticed that the majority of people this issue affected were using a Micro SD with adaptor (although there are many with Micro SD who have not had any problems at all), I've gone back to an Integral MINI SD. Working fine so far.
