Question Xperia as a modem via Bluetooth DUN??

Hi all!
I'm trying to use my Xperia as a BT-modem from my Qtek 9100 (Wizard) using Bluetooth DUN, but with no success!

I can add the Xperia as a BT-device on my Wizard but no services are shown!?

Anyone know how to solve this??
Pretty Please, I'm in great need of this!

I've looked in other threads about BT-DUN issues but I'm not sure if I can use the proposed fixes/patches...

regards
Mike

I have another problem with BT.
X1i is losing the BT connection to my headset and sometime also close down BT. This is even if the GT is configured to be on and visible.

Is this abug or is there a way to configure so that BT is alwys on and does not loose the conection (when the deviceses is in range)?

/Stefan

Question Registry

I found a dword setting for DUN at HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCSettings\DisableDUN that was disabled "0x1" and I changed It to "0x0".
Now the DUN is shown in the tab "profiles" under Bluetooth settings.

But, I can't get my Wizard to identify the DUN service on my X1i.

Anyone got any answers/solution??

Default No DUN but PAN

I ran into the same problem and started researching this site and google. Apparently since WM5 AKU 3 Bluetooth DUN has been replaced with Internet Connection Sharing. First you need to enable Internet Connection Sharing (in Programs) and then connect your PC to a Bluetooth PAN (Vista: right click on the BT icon, select Join a Personal Area Network)

I haven't tried one of the methods floating around xda-developers and other sites to install a alternative bluetooth stack to enable DUN. ICS works fine for me (branded T-Mobile X1 Dutch) on Vista, XP and a MAC.

I´ve tried ICS with my pc and It works fine but this is not what I´m trying to acomplish.
I´m trying to get my wizard (qtek 9100) to use my Xperia as a 3G modem.

I didn´t know they rewritten the stack, thanks fo the info.

I can get the computer to recognize the phone, and I enable internet connection program, but it still doesn't work.

Does my computer need specific software installed?

I might have a solution for this

Go to Device Manager

Go to Bluetooth Radios (Make sure your bluetooth is on or else it won't show up
Right click on you bluetooth device (your might have a different name don't choose enumerator) and choose properties
then in the advanced tab give your bluetooth a proper (nick)name

Then click on the drivers tab, here choose update driver. make sure you have a internet connection up and the cd of the X1 in the drive. Let it automatically search for the latest driver. After finding it, it will display a balloon indicating it has installed software for PAN and more.

Turn on and start up the default bluetooth service from Windows
Add your phone to the list.
Make sure you started up your Internet Sharing option on the X1 and press connect.

Right click on the bluetooth icon in your taskbar, choose join a Personal Area Network.

You will be prompted with such a screen (I removed my personal name, but your will be shown here)
Click connect and your connection should be working

make sure ou have the beam option on your X1
(Sorry if I'm missing some steps for some, I was playing around and after the lasts steps I took I achieved a working PAN/BUN connection, so these steps are the only ones I remember correctly)

Yes indeed you need to use a PAN to access internet using X1i, in USB or BT mode.

On the X1i you need to go to "programs->internet share" then you can choose the connection type (USB / BT PAN) and the network to be used.

As for the BT PAN side, it's like Ves said though the Bluetooth part should already be installed when Active Sync is installed from the X1i CD ROM (or so SE says).
I made a quick guide on my website a while ago:
http://www.lmame-bug.com/index.php?p=645&more=1&page=2

Sorry it's in French but the screen captures should be explicit enough

Works like a charm.
