[Q]Blackstone ROM on QUARTZ (HTC MAX)?
hi guys, I'm pretty new here. I've done some ROM installation before using this forum and found it very useful!
Today, I just received a HTC Max from Yota, Russia! Unfortunately, it is a Russian OS and I can't read Russian!
Any of you have HTC QUARTZ English ROM (stock preferred) or if not, can I use the Blackstone ROM for the HTC Max?
Any help would be appreciated!

Where did you get "MAX" especialy, that you not russian ?
on topic: even if rom from blackstone will be installed successfuly you will lose wimax support .... but it wiil be cool if you test it for different thing, threre are rumors, that blackstone could be released with "android", if so it would be great news having ability to easily port "android" to quartz .... cuz it's olmost ideal device, with "android" it would be complete
(sorry for bad lang )

1) it is faster.
2) it is open.
3) even open it has strong standardization.
5) there is standardizated mechanism to share any information between applications.
6) applications writen on java, so its easier to develop and debug apps for android.
1/3 of WM - just the mater of time, cuz android got realy big potential and wm not, its like android just born child and wm is an old man, even wm7 will not change this, M$ politics is to make operating systems more "glamour", but they never add real new and usefull functionality ....

Hi,
BTW, u can't flash a cooked ROM right now, cause you will need HardSPL for MAX4. Please be patient.
But anyway you can help the community:
Which ROM build you have ?
Can u dump it for us ?
Cheers

I don't agree much with this sentence. While I presume software written in Java will probably be higher quality (java is more difficult to learn and master that say, visual basic), probably many programmers will be left out of the game.
The many little tools/utilities available for WM may never been available for Android.
In WM you have a much wider choice of programming languages / environments (Basic, C, C++, C#, Pascal, Delphi, Lazarus, Java, .NET), and I can only see that as an advantage for the community.
Other that that I'm also looking forward for Android to run on my devices...

And I see it as a big disadvantage for WM, the only quality software for WM is writen on C++, other is too slow, unstable or just not so comfortale to use.
Android's standart application achetecture is big step for open software ... btw, it's not so hard to learn java if you learned any of that other languages.

I only think that being forced to use Java is not the best solution to spread support, but I think that as Android matures that will change, and many other programming languages will eventually appear (but I know nothing about Android programming.. just guessing.. and hoping...).
Professional developers have no problems picking up Java, casual programmers may.
At the end, if crappy programs are develped in Visual Basic, we just don't use them (crappy programs can be developed in java also), but other good software may have been developed in "crappy" languages.
I tested Embedded Visual Basic (and developed some custom code with it) and, while I blush admitting to having used Visual Basic, I got good results (not slow and not buggy), and at the time there were not many alternatived (that I knew of anyway)...
