Default InfraRed for HD

Hi all,
what do you think about this InfraRed Adapter

Is it possible to use such a device with Blackstone ???

I just found this one ... click.

If you like to DIY , look here.

As I can see e need this Sound-to-IR adapter from Griffin Technologies!!!
Their product Total Remote 5001-RMT /which is discontinued btw/ is ONLY transmitter. Anyway it uses software with big list of supported devices.

Adding an IR port to the HD sounds cool, but what are you going to use it for?
Communicating with old devices? or just to use it as an expensive remote?

I've bought a used ipaq 3715 from ebay for that purpose and can confirm using a PPC as remote control is excellent option.

(Though looking at 320x240 screen, after having seen HD, kinda hurts the eyes. )

I may buy few IR diodes for experiments...
