Windows Mobile 6.5 Beta on XDA
Appears that there is a WM6.5 beta rom on xda for the Blue Angel device. Does anyone think it is possible to "port" it to the Blackstone

WM6.5
I think I’ll stick with 6.1 until WM7 comes out. I took a look at the video and it still looks like a turd. I was just reading the sales numbers for Q3 all I can say is the ass clowns at Microsoft need to get it together very quick.
If Microsoft doesn’t get in the game and fast, it may be to late!!

if iwas to hazzard a guess as to what this 6.5 is all about, i would say that 6.5 underlying core maybe the core for WM7, they then strip all the fancy stuff off to leave a faster updated core that doesnt have too much to get messed up. I mean, if they banged out everything and it was too buggy it would be much harder to fix having it all in the mixing bowl.
So, release the basic core with the older UI and get yourself 6 months of free testing on many different devices.
Its a guess, but to me it makes sence, guess we shall have to wait an see.

Strangely, I was thinking the exact opposite. They're sticking with the number 6.5 because the core kernel will remain the same as 6.0/6.1 overall, but with a new, somewhat improved today screen and interface. PIE6, better touch control built-in, some other updated apps, friendlier today with potential plug-in/gadget type of support, but on the same core. Gives them a quick and dirty way to compete with the attractive new competition while preparing for 7 which will contain the brand new core that gives them a lot more flexibility to make it run smoother and have the must-have functionality that the other OSes now have. Honestly, I suspect this one's more likely as it's easier. It takes a lot less time to design a cool interface (not to mention they have the Zune and Danger teams available to help with this) than it takes to improve the kernel.

yay that's what forums are about, discussing!
i found both opinions very interesting. read the first one and convinced me of that right away, then the second one came and i'm all over the place. guys, the real thing is: microsoft is dropping the ball with windows mobile. they created an excellent OS to be used with a stylus than Apple came along with a (i hate to say that) great thumb friendly experience and a, sort of, cute interface and everything was messed up. and not just that there's also google and their android. microsoft got a history of learning opponents moves and counter attacking. i think before we expect we're gonna have a big surprise.
now imagine how funny would it be if even having the best hardware (blackstone) we will still have to put up with a ported version rather than a native one in the end?

your right, it might just be a bodge job on the interface, i really hope not tho, the problem with WM isnt its UI, its the core that cant handle a decent UI, making good shells shouldnt be an issue, your right its an easy way to make it better, but even the TouchFlo UI overlays we have here are hampered by its crap core and slow responce.
Time will tell. the only thing we can be sure of is, either the core or its interface will be crap.

I think the core will remain Windows mobile 6, but with revisions. Hence, 6.5. Microsoft should at least do something about the performance and videocapabilities, since that's what the iPhone is all about.
Secondly, we've got HTC, SonyEricsson, Asus and Samsung with their shells. Microsoft should be more than able to fix up a good shell to run as todayscreen. After that's done, they should drop W.m. 6.5 development entirely and dev W.m. 7.'
In my eyes, WM 6.5 is a people pleaser. But the good stuff comes when WM7 is out.
