Program to keep wifi on during sleep mode?

I dont have a data plan so when it switches, all my data applications (helloaim, etc) go dead. Is there any app on the g1 that keeps the wifi radio on? I know the iphone has something like this

I know this is cliche and annoying but that's an option in the cupcake build I tried.

just turn the screen time-out to Never, so it never goes into sleep mode. i know this isn't very practicle and quite battery-consuming, but i can't think of anything else that would work.

you tryed APNDroid from the market? Its a Programm to toggle G3/Edge/Gprs Connection - so it's not automatically switching, but only a click

There is an app in the market called Wifi Lock that does what you are looking for and its free.
