Post [REF] Don't Start A New Thread - Blackstone Questions & Answers Here!

CREDIT TO scotchua FOR THE ORIGINAL IDEA FOR THIS THREAD

For those who haven't bothered to read the READ THIS BEFORE POSTING announcement by
mrvanx
, I brought it to you:

A few things you should keep in mind before posting to XDA-Developers forums:

Check if your question has been asked before
Some questions just keep popping up over and over. Please use the 'search function' in the menu above each and every page in the forum. Try entering a few keywords to see if your question has been asked before. If it has, please read the topics and see if you can figure it our from there. You can also search inside a topic if it has too many comments by using the search function (CTRL+F) in your browser. If you don't find the answer, please post a comment to the relevant thread instead of starting a new one.
RTFW, or Read the Wiki
Chances are your question is already answered on the wiki: Make sure you browse through the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) before you start a new topic. If it's an obvious or common question, chances are someone has already put the answer there.
ETFW, or Edit the Wiki
Information stored in the wiki is dynamic: The wiki makes it easy for anyone to contribute or edit pages, and link them together, it is the best way to keep all information current and accurate. If you ask something in the forum which you didn't find on the wiki previously, please take 5 minutes of your time to EDIT the wiki and add the information there when you get an answer. This is the only way to avoid tons of new threads asking the very same questions over and over and over again.

Don't be afraid of editing the wiki if you don't understand the wiki syntax: Formating may seem a bit complicated at the beginning, but you don't have to care too much if you just want to add content, add it as if you were writing a text document and sure someone more experienced with wiki syntax will edit it after and correct the bad formating mistakes.
First time here?
If it's your first time here, we encourage you to read general XDA-Developers guidelines too, which is an extended version of what has already been said here.

Please consider a few guidelines before posting to the Blackstone Forum and Subfora!
(also applies to other Fora!)

DO check whether your question has been asked before!
There are some questions that have been asked before several times.
Use the “Search” function on the brown menu bar on the top of the page. There you have the options the have Google search inside XDA-developers site or to use the built-in forum search.
If your search has no/unsatisfying results, try with different keywords.

If your question has been asked, read the thread or use the “Search” function to search through that specific thread.

If you don’t find the answer, try posting in that thread as chances are bigger someone can help you.

Alternatively you can start using the XDA-Developers FireFox & IE Search Bar Plug In.

DO read the Wiki!
Chances are that the answer to your question is already to be found in the Wiki. So please check the Wiki and read the FAQs.

DO edit the Wiki!
All the information that is stored in the Wiki is dynamic. Therefore it can be edited by everyone. Updating the Wiki in this way leaves us with an up to date Wiki which can successfully answer other user’s question only by reading it.
Also posting an answer you get on the forum to the Wiki helps other users with future similar questions.

New here?
If you are a first timer, welcome aboard!
Please read the General Guidelines of XDA-developers posting.

As a rule of thumb, let’s try to maintain the following structure:

Blackstone
(General talk. Post general issues related to Blackstone, software, skins, fixes, tips, tricks, OS issues, etc.)

Blackstone ROM development
(Specific talk. Post issues related to upgrading only, Utilities, HardSPL, Radios, unbricking, etc.)

Blackstone accessories
(Specific talk. Post issues related to accessories only, SD Cards, headsets, remote, etc.)

ATTENTION CHEFs and USERS!
Let's try to post our ROMs the following way:

Code:
[ROM][LANGUAGE][DATE]rom name and version (Build)[STATUS]
[ROM][WWE][05.08.08]Duttys Diamond v.1.5 (CE OS 5.2.19965-Build 5.2.20273)[ONLINE]

***WELCOME***

Welcome everyone who has a question, but just can't seem to find an answer. My hope is that this thread will reduced the extremely large number of new threads being created for every little issue each user is having. The rules are very simple. Please follow them, as it's just not that hard.

1) Absolutely NO FLAMING. I am completely inflexible on this rule. If i catch you do it, you will get an xda vacation (will be banned, in case you don't get it). Also, just to be clear, "use the search function" is not an acceptable answer in this thread.

2) Before you post you MUST read THIS. Trust me, I will know if you didn't.

3) Anyone can post any issue they're having with their Raphael in this thread, but you MUST include a detailed description of your issue. If after a couple days your issue has not been addressed, please feel free to bump it.

4) Remember you are asking for help, and the as the saying goes "it's easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar. So be nice to those who are helping you.

This is an experiment based on a suggestion by another users, so we will see how it goes. If all goes well then i hope that this thread will be a great help to many new members. If not then we will make adjustments. I want to thank all those who will be contributing to this forum for their time in advance, as i certainly know i won't be answering these questions all by myself.

Default Missing "Bluetooth" folder in File Explorer

Does anyone else have this problem? It's just not there. I downloaded HTC_BT_FTP_Explorer_1[1].2.30489.cab & it helped with the FTP tab in the bluetooth settings, but it automatically unchecks the top box, Enable Bluetooth Explorer, every time you hit OK. Therefore, Bluetooth Explorer doesn't work. I get the wait cursor pops up for about 3/4 of a second & disappears. Nothing happenes. I've looked through all the settings including TweakHD & Advanced Config. It would be nice to have this working on this $700 PPC. Thanks in advance.................

Question Registry Editing Basics

Can someone please explain the following things about the registry?

1 - Are changes you manually make via a registry editor permanent? Will they go away after a hard reset? If not permanent, why do I keep reading that errors made can result in IRREVERSIBLE damage?

2 - How do tweaking programs like HD Tweak and Advanced Configuration work? Does turning something on/off cause a registry change? If they do cause a registry change and if registry changes are supposed to be permanent, how does a hard reset bring the phone back to factory settings after making changes via HD Tweak/Adv Config? (I've read that there may be two "copies" of the registry, one that is permanent/unchangeable/default and one that is dynamic/changeable/"working"...does this have something to do with it?)

3 - If someone uses a registry editor and accidently deletes a whole line or folder, is it gone forever? Can you simply recreate it?...Will a hard reset bring the deleted line/folder back?

4 - What is the best free registry editor for a BEGINNER? From my research, I've narrowed it down to PHM Registry Editor and Total Commander, with these differences:
-PHM is more user friendly and has more registry editing options, whereas Total Commander is better known for it's file explorer
-in PHM, I've read it is easier to accidently erase a line...is this true? If so, what makes Total Commander different/less prone to making mistakes?
-PHM has not been updated in many years, whereas, Total Commander continues to be updated. Does this matter? Does this make Total Commander more stable/safer to use for newer versions of windows mobile?

Sorry for all the questions...but I feel ready to start editing my registry and wanted clarifications before I started. Hopefully this will help others in the same boat. Thanks in advance.

Default [Q] How to ad a Tab in TF3d?

Hello all,

first i have to appollogize for my english, a lot of time has passed, since i learned it at school.

I have a little question:

How can i ad a second or third program tab in the TF3D-Tab?
I have so much Games and Programmes, so that i would like to split them up into 2 different Program Tabs.
But how can I add a second Tab?
I read, that others have made it, but not how.

If anyone has a clue, please tell me, so that i can customize my HD in the way i want it to...

Thanks,

Rosiv

Default Where do I start?

Hey guys,

I'm new here as a member, but I've been browsing the forums for a while. Anyway I have a few questions to ask before getting started and was hoping you'd all be able to help.
  1. I'm selling my Vario 4 (Touch Pro) to buy a HD and was wondering if by getting it on Orange I will have to hard-reset it once I get it or anything like that as I want it to perform as best as possible (compared to my crappy N95 anyway). So where do I start specifically for this phone?
  2. I've read a lot about this SEVEN program and would like to use it once I get my HD but I've not seen any screenshots of it nor do I really understand how it works. Does it send my mail to the Outlook client or is there a dedicated application.
  3. Where's the best place to get the HD unlocked and the cheapest (I doubt they're both the same). And if I go ahead and install a new ROM or anything like that do I have to unlock again like with the iPhone?
  4. I'm coming from a N95 and like to send text messages using Nokia PC Suite is there a HTC/WinMo variation of this?

Hope I'm not asking too much. Thanks for your help guys!
