Unknown version os SPL...HSPL Fail

Hello Freinds

Last night I tried to splash my Gene (Bought on 17th Feb '09)
It gave error msg wrong version of SPL...HSPL Fail
I stopped there...till now my phone is working fine..but I want to load new ROM
I used gene_hspl_HT8x.exe to splash my phone

Senior Members please help this child in trouble....

Nobody in this world can tell you a phone is old or new gene. Its only become known when you follow the process given in tutorial actually. If you read the tutorial instead of wasting time here, you will get to know exactly what i mean. THis is a developers forum, for heavens sake, and you cant even read a 1 page tutorial?

sorry 4 bumping the thread again, but I have a query.
Can you please mention which tut you are talking about?
As I have covered the test spl tut and come to know that i have new htc gene(bought 3 days ago). But I get the same error.
what should i do to unlock spl?

@Xumit: Specify ur error (what type of error). and when It's occurring (which step this error occurred).
Then u can get help.

When I run gene_hspl_ht8x.exe I get error in a small diloug box is
"'Gene HSPL'

Unknown version of SPL.
HSPL FAIL."

btw, If I try to unlock spl with sumit's trick old hspl wont work for me for sure.and my gene will brick. But what if the new hspl is not even working on it? My phone will be bricked for ages....
someone please help....
