Default TomTom Navigator cab file.

Hi

The mod has closed the TomTom thread below prematurely. I've tried to install TT7 on my diamond2 using a number of different cab files, but each time a message pops up cancelling the installation and tells me that my device is not compatible.

Can anyone direct me to a cab for TT7 that is PROVEN to have installed on a stock ROM diamond2?

Thanks

Stoatie

PS - the phone ROCKS. Touch flo much better and much more functional.

Hi, try searching for 'ttn7.9185 vga black.cab'. Looks like I might have caused some confusion with the other thread as its obviously the wrong resolution. I didn't realise sorry!
It does work though. Some of the interface is slightly stretched. I don't use TT so didn't really notice.

Apologies!
C500 / C600 / M3100 / Touch Diamond / Touch Diamond 2 / HD2!

TomTom 6 does not work, it either crashes or the display is distorted.
I installed a TT7 cab from on these forums that works on the surface (when using a free map downloaded from tomtom's website) but screws up the navigation when driving.

Even if the version 7 cab worked properly there doesn't seem to be any way to get legal maps for it. My paid-for maps from my version6 tomtom are not recognised by version 7 and I have wasted £39 on new maps because Tomtom Home won't let me install them to my device stating that I have the wrong navigation software or something.

Exactly. Which is why at 11:30pm I gave up, consigned my TOMTOM, and the maps I'd legally paid for, to history and went to Handango and paid for and downloaded CoPilot. I heartily recommend it. TOMTOM are assholes. Sorry for the profanity, but they DONT DESERVE ANYTHING FROM US.

Chill...its a new unit...new software
Why should TomTom have to keep up with Windows?
Yes you paid but you paid for a product that worked for your previous phone.

I can sense your frustration but TomTom have no guarantee to ensure its products work with all products just like you wouldnt expect the first dos version of Pacman to work in XP/Vista

I'm sure they will in due time release a patch for it - and I'm sure a similar issue will occur in 6.5 and in 7 of windows mobile

It's nothing to do with the new phone. It's their decision to treat everyone like criminals. The last time I changed phone they made me wait 2 months before they would let me transfer the licence for the maps to the new device. This was Western Europe which I bought for a sizable chunk of cash from them. Their support is awful. The software itself is clunky on the device and terrible on the desktop. I just don't feel like devoting 2 days of my life to this everytime I get a new phone.

I have to say CoPilot has been a dream in comparison. It looks so much fresher and is so much more intuitive to use. Things like contact look-up just WORK, and it picks up the GPS position in seconds compared to the TOMTOM. Honestly, I've seen people saying the CoPilot routing isn't great, and I have to confess that I haven't used it for any challenging long routes yet, but I'm EXTREMELY impressed by it. It's built for Windows Mobile, and compared to TOMTOM, it shows.

Anyone who is thinking of plonking down cash for TT maps should instead go and download the CoPilot trial to have a look at it.

Hi,

What version did you purchase, Was it the touch diamond edition or the normal version?

Thanks

I got the touch Diamond version. You download 2 folders which you copy to the device, and it then kicks off the installation. I was worried cause I'd selected the Diamond version that it would install in main memory instead of on the card, but it gave me the same options you'd expect anyway.

Hi,

I have the Touch Diamond2 and the CoPilot 7 Touch Diamond edition. However, i cannot get the program to work.

1. I copied the entire contents of thd DVD to my microSD card and started the install (the copilot.wm6ppc.cab file in the 2577 directory).

2. It installs but when i start CoPilot, i get a "Unable to open CoPilot. Please make sure that the storage card is inserted or that the data has been properly downloaded"

3. After pressing ok, i eventually get to the 'Tips and Tricks' screen, then i cant use the screen to input and then forced to soft reset the phone

Does anyone know a way around this problem?

Thanks for any help.

M
