After a soft reset it is usually necessary to copy the gfmapi.dll into the windows folder again.

I deleted and re-copied the gfmapi.dll into the windows directory, and everything is working ok, I got tmc in igo, but it was dropping out, and I had a solid radio signal. everything seems to be working great other than that, it would probably be usable on a regular basis, but I'm looking forward to more developments.

PS. in the US, clearchannel radio broadcasts TMC concurrently with all their channels, so if you can get any clearchannel radio station you can should be able to get tmc.

dumb question: when you say:
"-GPS + TMC not implemented"
How does IGO work without GPS? Does it use cell tower triangulation? I must be misinterpreting this.

I found that the auto-tuning feature appeared to be working, but it was moving on too fast to actually detect TMC data, for me. Once it got to a station I know has TMC data, I unchecked the box, waited 10 seconds or so, and usually then TMC data is detected.

I see this too, though I did hear audio try to come out of the speaker intermittently.

This is a bit of an annoyance, and it wasn't an issue with the previous GFMAPI. Is that something flywhc should look into, or is it related directly to HyperGPS? The GFMAPI file does still appear to be in my \Windows foler, but it has a folder icon rather than a file icon.

That's not a minus sign in front of "GPS". Its a bullet-point. I believe that's referring to GPS & TMC on the same COM port. GPS is, of course, a necessity for iGO to work. Currently, however, the GPS COM port and TMC virtual port must be different.

I did everything as per the opening post. When I am in test mode I can clearly receive TMC messages. As soon as I start IGO8 and enter setting-TMC, the appropriate frequency is displayed and a message, that there are no TMC evens. After a couple of second this display disappears, and get the main TMC settings window, indicating, that there is no recognised TMC receiver available. Than if I wait for quite a long time, RDS message is displayed, and the sound og the radio station can be heard for a fraction of a second.

Pretty weird.

Do you think this can be down to the ROM and Radio versions?

I also have a Touch HD (with same rom versions), and the only way I found to get TMC messages is to let HGPSClient running on test page in the background (on a frequency with TMC messages), and then run iGo.

When I do that, I get TMC working, otherwise if I close HGPSClient and then run iGo, I don't get any TMC.

Hope this works

Dear flohtc,

I do have HGPSClient running in the background. Yesterday I finally succeeded in getting some TMC messages. Today I made a roadtest, and the only thing that occured was, that I had no constant TMC reception and when I did for a split second, than the speaker was muted whatever the settings were. Now, while I am typing these I keep on getting error messages - no TMC available. So far I cannot recognise any patterns in the behaviour of all these.

What is more, when HGPSClient is running and I enter the test mode, nothing is displayed just the blank boxes. For the first time the frequency and - probably - the signal strength was on display and I could tune in for the required TMC station. When I now have HGPSCling running in the background and I start IGO8, for the first intance I see a connacted TMC receiver, with 0,00 frequency on display, than after a couple of second the screen changes into search mode, and no TMC hardware can be found.

I keep on deleting HypeGPS.log, but this doe not help either.

And all these after yesterday's successfull TMC data reception.

Any help is highly appreciated.

regards

You can set the frequency on the test page by directly typing the radio frequency in the box and hit Set. You can type for example 100.4 and hit set, you don't have to use the arrows.

For the TMC, I have to leave HGPSClient running but also I have to leave the test page up (I do not close the test page where TMC info is displayed). Leaving HGPSClient running but not on the test page does not work for me in iGo.

Hope this helps
