Just my two pennies:

Orange have been using Line 2 for years, even my Nokia 6310 supported a second number.

I second that... My old Samsung Z500 did, and my E300 before that... It's not a phone-feature per se, it's more depending on the network you're on. And it's definitively not Dual Sim. It's too lines. Like say you're on a call, someone else calls you, you can't switch between two calls. That's it. My Diamond does it also... Can't remember where, but it does ^^

in Australia, years back, you would have Telstra phones only using "a" phone line... but when you used an Optus SIM, you'd find it referring to "Line 1" and "Line 2" - that went back to the days of my Ericsson 768 though.

Default Can anyone verify dual sim?

I think you are confusing two lines with dual sim. Dual sim is having two cards in your phone and two lines is having a sim capable of handling to lines with diferent numbers. There are a third and fourth things which are conference call and call waiting and those are network services.
What is different in dual sim is the possibility of having two completly diferent networks working in your phone. If you search http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdamaster you see that the new rhodium is listed as having 2 sim, but no parallel working, meaning that even though there are 2 cards only 1 is working at the time. There are however phones/pda able to have concurrent/parallel working sim's. I am looking for one of those. I know Acer Tempo DX900 has that abilitiy. For me is essencial both working as I have my old sim with my number that my friends and family knows and now my boss gave me a work number, so I have to carry my pda plus a mobile in case I'm needed at work. SO the major question is: Does HTC has or will have in the near future a parallel dual sim pda?
