if you guys are making a rogers dream fun for H then count me in

i got mine for $150 after renewing a 3yr contract (i always do 3yrs). I'm sure we can find some for well under $700.

i got mine for 500 Canadian $ bnib, and i can find more for 400-500.
but we need to hear from Haykuro first, at least that he is gonna give it a try.

Thanks for commenting H. The price is 599.99 + 13% tax. So aroud 678.00 canadian. You shouldnt feel awkward since youd be doing all of us such a huge service by finding a way to root this device. I think i can speak for the rest of us when i say that donating 10-20 dollars is nothing if we can get root. Just say the word and we'll get the ball rolling on the donations.

It's been suggested that IF Haykuro was interested that he could set up a paypal account where donations for this phone would be collected. Once Haykuro says "thats 700" then someone will be elected to send H a phone, possibly our friend who lives in Niagara Falls who can cross the boarder and mail it, thus circumventing any shipping tax costs incurred by sending it from outside of the United States. When Haykuro recieves the phone then he will release the funds collected to the person we elect to send the phone. This seems the most logical route. It all depends on Haykuro andf our donations. =)

when we reach >=$700 i will announce it.

at this point i will forward the money to the person purchasing the phone (this information will all be public so we all are aware of where the money is). the entire process will be posted on twitter most likely so everyone has a way to keep track of it all.

That's a way better price than 689. Problem is shipping it to H from Toronto will most likely get him dinged with taxes. We have a few options. We can...

1) forget the 450 craigslist phone and have our friend in Niagra Falls send H an HTC Dream.

2) purchase the 450 CL phone and send it from Toronto and H/we split the taxes.

3) purchase 450 CL phone, send it to our friend in Niagra and he sends it to H across the boarder circumventing the whole tax thing.

I think we need to vote.

1) is most expensive.

2) is midrange, depending on how much taxes come out to be.

3) complicates the whole "who gets paid?" issue, but seems to be the most econimical for everyone involved.

I have no preference, just want to get H a phone so he can get to work. =)

I would say hold onto the paypal funds until you receive the phone, not give these funds for payment as whomever we elect to send would have to "risk" the money until you receive the phone. This is all assuming you, Haykuro, are trust worthy.

For me, it just makes more sense to trust Haykuro with the $$$ because he is more trusted on the forums than any of us. Haykuro, making an announcement about this on your twitter and iphoneproject website would help us verify that this is really you responding.
