Edit: OK I got a sample of the same video. On the benchmark I got 75.77% which is not very good. IF it was 115% it's OK (it means even on high speed scene it won't skip many frames), but 75 is not good at all. That's on high quality, qtv display with "TyTN II" driver mode. Also I'm on stock R2A ROM.

Edit2: Tested the same sample with Touch HD with latest Duty ROM. 81.92%. Better than X1 with stock ROM, but still not good enough.

Both tests are with smooth zoom = off.
Yeah .. those are typical values from my experience. And no, I don't consider this watchable. We are just spoiled

Try before you buy .. or at least do a search.

Anyway it is not problem of authors of Coreplayer. In fact they are quite good by making at least some qTV support. Those features are totally undocumented, they had to reverse engineer it.
Only SE and M$ have the documentation and that is why WM player and SE player works fine.
And using standard WM6 techniques is even worse (you might try using other output devices).

I totally agree with you. I do not blame the developers of CorePlayer, the software is just the best with no real competition at all. The only similar, player as features, is SmartMovie Player, which worked as a charm on my old N95.

But I do blame MS and SE for not releasing the interfaces to HW acceleration. If the stupid WMP can play with HW acceleration, I bet CorePlayer could do it even better. If they had the needed documentation. That is why iPhone is considered as so fast, because Apple make both the Hardware and Software, and they know really good how to make their OS take advantage of their hardware. But that's just example, I don't want to compare or even talk more about Apple.

The thing is, that MS is loosing lots of potential and real clients with such attitude. So many people complaining about slow interface, comparing to the competition, and still no improvement in this direction.

As a fact, a friend of mine wants to change his TouchHD for that very reason, huge display and you can't play video on it, and the interface lags etc. Only if the video acceleration worked as it should.

Bump from the grave, but yeah this is disappointing. Just was checking for an update to see if there was any progress. It is fine to transcode videos but it still takes time and CPU cycles to grind away at it.

With a mobile device it would be far nicer if you could just throw whatever at it quickly before you run out the door and enjoy it.

Transcoding requires a decent amount of time and planning. Pretty amazing how Apple and Blackberry can demonstrate how much the other phone OS's suck but the others still can't do anything to fix it!
