Default [APP] [Jun 25, 2009] B2C - Birthday2Calendar 0.2

Description: This is a very simple application. It annoys me to all hell that if you have birthdays assigned to your contacts, Windows Mobile will not automatically add them to the calendar. Every phone I've had previous to my WM phone does this. Yeah, you can sync to Outlook, but I refuse to set Outlook up for something that should be done natively.

What's even more frustrating is that the WM5 SDK has a simple code sample (which is where I started this from) to accomplish this task yet it's still not included.

Anyways... this is my first WM application and I think it does it's job pretty well for now.

Notes:
  • It currently does not duplicate entries. It will only create entries for birthday's that aren't currently in the calendar. However, if you have a birthday alert set up, but it's not in the form of the contact's "FirstName LastName's Birthday" -- it will duplicate it.

Changelog:
Version 0.X:
[+] Anniversary Support
[+] Ability to change BusyStatus to "Free," "Busy," or "Tentative"
[+] Debug system

Version 0.2:
[+] Added ability to customize reminder time for birthday alerts.
[#] Fixed birthday start date (it now starts the event on the contact's birthday and shows their age on the event subject)
[#] Fixed bug where events couldn't be edited because of incorrect end time
[#] Fixed other minor bugs

Version 0.1:

[+] Initial Release

Todo:
  • Make it pretty?
  • Silent Mode
  • Ability to Delete/Overwrite existing calendar entries.

If you guys find any bugs/problems, or simply have any comments, criticism, or suggestions, please let me know. The goal of this program is simply to do what it does. However if I can improve it in any way I definitely will.

I haven't tested it yet, but I like the idea.

If I add a contact later on and run your app, will it duplicate the entries, or does it check to see if the birthdays are already added and just add the new ones?

I wonder how was the result too. Will is duplicate the item(s) or will just update the new one? Because we always key in contact's birthday subsequently.

good little program though I have the following points:
- it would best if the status of the entry be set as free.
- the all day appointment is entered wrong in the dates i.e. 25/06/09-24/06/09. which means you can't edit it, if required
- could the first time the program is run work out the age of the person as if the appointment was entered on the day they were born?

Very well. And very good idea.
I wait for version with anniversary.
Did you think to make a multilanguage version? It should be easy (few strings and menu).
If yes, i'm here for ita translation.

excellent...I always wanted such an app...syncing with outlook is crap

kudos...just few points:

1. Provision for anniversaries
2. Does it overwrite previous entries?
3. GUI can be improved and Iam sure you are working on it...

else, its a fantastic effort

good luck

Last one sounds like a good idea especially as S2U2 shows the "age" of the anniversary on the lock screen.
