@steve: you dont have to go to settings and mark tf3d or titanium because the mscr do this for you via Toggle icon.

I've never used UC before. Is it necessary to use it or can it be flashed the "normal" way, installing things manually?

UC is more for restore and automatic installation of your "standard" applications that you use on your phone. Its quite helpfull if you often try new phones. Use the Search function to find out more.
