Unlimited Data VS. Phone as Modem

Ok I have an HTC Mogul PPC6800, It is pretty sweet! I've done some cool stuff to it.

Recently my Satellite card broke so I have no more internet =[
The card was from an IT I know so it was free. and it was my only source to the internet.

Anyways, I was curious, If I can find a way to connect to the internet via my laptop through my phone, will I be charged? I have unlimited data access. I DO NOT have Phone as Modem on my plan and was told by one Sprint rep that if I could do it without phone as modem on plan, i wouldnt be charged, and another saying theyd shut my phone off etc etc. I am scared to try it and get my bill pwned by sprint. Any help? Suggestions? Etc.

My phone has a wireless card in it and I was wondering if there was anyway I could route my incoming Ev-Do connection through my wifi card, and if that would charge to my bill or count to my unlimited data
