Arrow [ROM]TheOfficial DONUT TMO US/EU & AOSP-1.6_r1.4(dream/sapphire32B)[11/17/09]-v2.2.1

It's ALL about options!!!

There are (4) Donut based ROM's here!

1) The AOSP1.6_r1.4+ADP DRD20 ROM
2) The HTC ADP 1.6 DRC83 ROM
3) The TMO OTA DRC83 US
4) The TMO OTA DRC92 EU

Big Thanks go out ....
To JF, Cyanogen, Stericson, Haykuro, JAC, ccyrowski, TheDudeOfLife, Soulife, KB7SQI, irrenhaus, rogro82, Loccy, cytown, rgv151, Geesun, xenio2000, LucidREM, miketaylor00, Meltus, Moonspoon, Tehseano, Manup456, beagz, sir*mez, Prash, mannyb, RichieDaze, JonnyBeuno, nabzilla1990, all the other theme, app & ROM devs), AndroidSpin (for hosting space and a great ROM DB), .... AND ...... most of all to XDA-developers and the XDA community ... THANK YOU!

PLEASE NOTE:

1) The Full ChangeLog is now TXT file attachment (see thread attachments).
2) POST #4 Contains Installations instructions, etc.
3) POST #7 Contains Screenshot, Theme & Resource links.

Code:
Frequently Asked Questions

How do I control features like compcache, linux-swap, CPU, etc?

A) Most features of the build are controlled with the terminal
command, 'expsetup'. Run this in the terminal after the 'su'
command, it's menu-driven. Else, you can optional employ
a user.conf, see changelog and example for details.

So what's the difference between the AOSP, ADP & TMO builds?

A) The AOSP ROM supports ALL android languages, besides that,
it is the same as the ADP ROM. ADP & AOSP/ADP builds are more
theme-able ... thus I will post more/better themes for these builds,
period. That said, you can check out
TheOfficial ROM DB Matrix for my ROM's HERE at androidspin!

So what's the deal with these "expansion packs"?

A) All of these ROM's are basic rooted versions of their official release.
So if TMO has a release, a matching "base rooted ROM" is posted.
This is simply a rooted form of that release w/no advanced rooted
features. Now, if you want advanced root features such as compcache,
apps2sd, tethering, etc ... you must install the expansion pack!
Further, if you are a MT3G (sapphire-32B) user, you must also install
the expansion pack in order for this build to work properly.

I can flash the base rooted ROM with no problem, but I get
"black/blank" screens when I install the expansion pack, what gives?

A) The most likely cause of this is leftovers from another build on your ext
partition. Reformat your ext partition, wipe, flash the base and reflash the
expansion pack.

Whenever I run 'su' or an app that runs 'su' I get a blank screen and an
eventual FC. How do I fix this, please help!?

A) USB Debugging must be turned ON. Goto Settings -> Applications ->
Development -> USB Debugging must be CHECKED!

I'm using AdvancedLauncher and it keeps ForceClosing when I
auto-rotate the phone?

A) This has been noted by several users when using specific widgets.
Specifically, the Taskiller widget has been noted to cause this problem.
Remove the offending widgets that are not yet Donut compatible.

Changelog v2.2.1 - 11/17/2009
- added - updated GoogleMaps w/Navigation.
--- NOTE: If you are upgrading from a previous version of TheOfficial, you will need to
install/reinstall GoogleVoice from the Market and reboot in order to get the Navigate option.
- added - Facebook app/widget (can be removed in expsetup )
- added - Theme/Add-On Profiles (option #16 in expsetup), this allows you to install themes
and be as stock as you'd like now. You can install any number of modified apps by altering
your theme profile.
NOTE: The AdvancedLauncher in ADP and AOSP is now the "replacement version". Which means you
will have to setup your theme profile w/option 16 in expsetup and enable the AdvancedLauncher.
This provides a significant performance increase, as well as the ability to use BetterCut type apps.
This will require you to redo your AdvancedLauncher settings (sorry) this is a one-time only necessity!
TMO US/EU users will continue to have the stand-alone AdvancedLauncher option (due to ota-key signing issues)
- added - Geesun's modified contacts.apk MOD (ty xenio2000) in ADP and AOSP builds (optional, set in theme profile).
- updated - cytown's phone.apk to version 21 in ADP and AOSP builds (optional, set in theme profile).
- removed - cytown's phone.apk mod from TMO ROM's, due to stability reasons (due to ota-keys).
- removed - resource downloader, for Loccy's BetterBrowser, cytown's Phone MOD and RGV151's MMS MOD.
---- These are now installed via the Theme profile setup ... again (option #16 in expsetup) ?have I said it enough?
- moved - something to vsapp downloader ... can't remember what
- fixed/modded - Compression scheme on builds and themes for a significant performance boost.
NOTE: You WILL need to re-download your theme, make sure it has a *_v2.2.1.zip on the end of the filename before installing.
I will be reposting ALL themes in short order ... so keep up with the thread/check back on post #7 often.
As well, I WILL be getting to the few theme requests that have been made throughout the thread (I am keeping track)

If you like or use this work, you can always buy me any kind of drink!

Default cool

Despite your friend's curious insistence, the work you've done is quite appreciated - nice job.

Post Installation Instructions, Recommendations and Notes.

Preferred Installation Procedure (Tested, Tried and True)!

Prerequisites - REQUIREMENTS
1) Root.
2) Recovery image capable of flashing ROM's not signed with OTA-release-keys, I recommend Cyanogen's 1.4 or Amon_RA's 1.2.3 image.

If you need help ROOTING or installing a recovery image ... PLEASE visit LucidREM's thread ... HERE....!!!!

He has provided fairly clear instructions and is always willing to help out those requiring assistance with this!

NOT REQUIRED - BUT STRONGLY RECOMMENDED
1) If you have a Dream/G1 ... Flash the Latest Radio, 2.22.19_26I, get it HERE!
2) A SDcard partition with (1) FAT32 partition and if you're a G1/dream user, (1) ext2/ext3/ext4 partition. I'd recommend at least ~320MB on the ext2/ext3/ext4 partition.

Installing Base Rooted ROM, Expansion Packs and Themes - Instructions

1) BACKUP ALL YOUR PHONE DATA AND SDCARD Contents to a computer, external HD, or whatever, by whatever means you can. (Always better Safe than ever sorry!)
2) If you are coming from another Apps2SD ROM or you use an ext2/ext3/ext4 partition for anything otherwise... In order to guarantee you won't have any issues with the install you should remove app, app-private, expstick and the dalvik-cache directories on your /system/sd (ext2/ext3/ext4) partition, or you may simply reformat it. If you backed up your whole SDcard, this shouldn't be a huge issue. - Yes you'll have to reinstall your apps. You can try to skip this step, but if the install fails, rinse, wash, repeat and don't skip this step.

3) Download the desired base rooted ROM from the original post (and expansion pack is desired, recommended).
4) Copy the base rooted ROM (and expansion pack if you plan to use it, recommended) .zip files to your phone's SDcard. (DO NOT PLACE IT IN A FOLDER).
5) Power-Off your phone.
6) Press and Hold (Home+Power) buttons at the same time to boot into recovery mode.
7) Perform a data wipe by pressing (Alt+w), may have to confirm by pressing HOME (it will prompt).
8) Flash the base rooted ROM using the anyzip (or choose update) option.
9) When finished, if you want the expansion pack, flash the expansion pack using the anyzip (or choose update) option.
10) When finished, reboot from recovery by pressing (Home+Back).
11) Once your phone has booted up, sign into your Google account (by whatever means) through the setup/data-sync wizard.
12) Launch the "MarketApp" and accept the terms, download some app you're familiar with by going to 'My Downloads' or search for one!
13) Now, the base and Expansion installation complete, if you want to install a theme, place the theme.zip file onto your sdcard.
14) Reboot into recovery.
15) Flash the theme_update.zip file using the anyzip (or choose update) option.
16) Reboot your phone!

That's it! You're Finished!

Enjoy!

ROM & ExpansionPack - Updating
Expansion Packs can be applied on top of previous Expansion Packs (or base ROMs) without wiping ... unless otherwise noted in the changelog! So read the changelog!!!
Do also note, you will typically have to re-apply your theme after updating! Sometimes you may need to download an updated/compatible new theme, so read the changelog!!!

That's IT! - Enjoy!

I can understand the friend's insistence. I know that I've flashed to ROMs in the past (on my old Excalibur) that omitted or messed up a feature that I had gotten used to or needed, or have flashed to a ROM that was overly flamboyant, versus a typically cleaner build.

Still, I've been reading great things about the Android ROMs by Cryanogen, JesusFreke, et al.
