Default 2 Problems on Hero

Firstly - the data connection.

when i am in the app market, every so often it says ATTENTION, A network error had occured. Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen

secondly, i have problem toggling the ABC/T9 function and the delete key. Seems to be a fault on the edges of the phone

anyone else having these faults?

Only with the occasional "network error" try again but then it works fine

Yes, I had problems with the touch sensitivity on the right hand edge of the screen, particularly where the backspace key on the qwerty keyboard (portrait mode) pops up. I got orange to exchange my phone for a new one the next day and haven't had problems since.

Have you tired calibrating the screen? The option can be found in settings --> locale and text --> touch input --> text input --> calibration tool

Glad that worked, the option should be more visible as it isn't exactly in the most obvious place.

Only have a problem with being chucked off if I have a low signal (which was pretty much the whole time on Orange). Provided I have a good signal it works perfectly for me.

if you're on the edge of a 3G cell, you might get this a bit as the cell breathes. I get exactly this on the magic and the hero at work as it is on the edge of the T-Mobile UK cell. But if i put my three sim in them they work fine as the whole town is blanketed with 100% HSDPA coverage on three!

but yeah, every time i get it, it tries again and works within seconds.
