Default This is how to get Hotmail on the Hero for free

I have been trying to forward my hotmail emails to gmail without any success. Anyway I was reading that hotmail now offers pop3 which is something you had to pay for before. So I entered these settings into the HTC pop3 widget and what do you know it works :)

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587) -----(I used 587 as 25 didn't work)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes ----(Change to TLS on the second page)

Sorry if you peeps already new this but I’m sure there are some others who were having problems getting their hotmail account working.

I had a feeling that maybe it was really easy, but my account wouldn't automatically setup. Maybe because I had a @hotmail.co.uk account ????

I was wondering why there wasn't any info on any of the threads. I was originally concentrating on forwarding to gmail as that is what I did for a mates iphone last year but the free forwarding tick seems to have changed

If Hotmail doesn't forward to gmail (hmm why would Microsoft, the owner of Hotmail, not allow this? ...) you could also set gmail to auto-download new messages via POP.
