Changing notification LED settings

When I get an SMS the trackball flashes, but not for very long. Ideally I would like an LED to flash instead and I'd like it to flash indefinately so I can see if I have an SMS without having to bring it out of standby.

I tried an App called Missed call but it doesn't work properly on hero!

You can try the app called Handcent SMS.

Much better app for handling SMS/MMS than the one installed on the Hero.
And you can change the trackball to flash for several minutes, e.t.c.
