Hero or iphone 3gs

please help me choose between the apple iphone 3gs and the htc hero. I am very confused... i was about to buy the Hero, as I am very much concerned about iphones sound quality during calls and reception. Sound quality during calls ( it is a phone after all) is very important. But after reading the forums here I was disapointed with the comments.
People are complaining about Hero's performance , even in reception and sound quality during calls.
I would appreciate your help.

Try them both out and make a decision that way.

Your only going to get told the hero is best on this site. I have a ipod touch at home which is pretty much the same as an iPhone when connected via WiFi and I haven't touched it in 2 weeks since I have had the hero. I just think the hero is just somethinf different.

Apple has a lot of limitations.
The lack of multitasking is (for me at least) the most annoying one.
If you are planning to jailbreak, things are getting worst, as phone become unstable with a lot of malfunctions.
I had enough with iphone after 1 year (because I could not find a replacement for it).
Besides that - you have all the applications for free on Android platform, but you have to pay (a lot sometimes) to have good apps on Apple.
