Skinning notification icons

Ive used a root explorer and within the data folder is the apk, opening the apk i find the icons i wish to replace, how would i go about replacing those or am i looking in the wrong location? Id like to change the icons the facebook use, really dont like the black ones as there seems to be white pixels in the corners. Any help would be appreciated thanx.
