Copilot

Just an FYI, but I've just driven down to the Costa Blanca in Spain from the UK, using Copilot as my navigation tool. It worked absolutely brilliantly - routing was flawless and accurate and because the Hero can multitask I was able to listen to audiobooks and make/receive phone calls, without any hiccups from Copilot.

The original plan was to use a Navman unit as the primary, with Copilot acting as backup, but the routing from Copilot gave me a route that was 3 hours shorter than Navman, and it proved to be eerily accurate on its estimate too!

Awesome, sounds like CoPilot worked like a charm for you

I have to say, I have been disappointed by co-pilot on android. It drops GPS fix all the time, taking ages to get it back unless you restart the app, usually at a crucial moment! It also freezes quite a lot. The general interface is awkward, just nowhere near as good as navigon and tomtom where on WM, since both are supposed to be releasing android versions I am holding out for them!

Ahhhhhh, but have you upgraded your ROM? This alone fixed the GPS dropping issues. to be honest I find it better than my TomTom due to the fact that it tracks speed cameras now as well.

All I can say is that I didn't experience a single issue in 1100miles/20 hours of driving. I only have complaint about Copilot and that is that I wish it used the "standard" Android on-screen keyboard rather than its own, as their own isn't very good.

CoPilot gets its GPS information from the android framework. If you're losing GPS location, your device is at fault, not copilot! copilot is just quick to accept from the framework that the location is not longer acceptable.

Anyone know what the update released today was for?

Hmm sounds like I need to see what's wrong with my gps then give copilot another go. I am on the new Rom.

The idea of tom tom iq routes does still excite me though
