Default Problem of parting SD

I have two partitions now, one FAT32 and one EXT3.

Can I keep all the data without a format and allocate some space from FAT32 to a new linux-swap partition?

The 3rd post HERE has a script that will backup your apps on the ext partition to the fat32 partition. Just follow the instructions on running the script and do the following with the usb cable plugged in.

the fat32 partition should show up on your pc as a removable drive.
copy the contents to your pc
