Those who have gotten it to work, what exactly did you do? You had to have done something different.

Has anyone gotten it to work on anything other than the G1?

I was able to get navigation using the 2 build props attached.

I used SU File Browser and adb to do this. You can do it all with adb but between the 2 i was able to do things faster.

Mount system as rw
delete build.prop and build.trout.prop
(or you may modify yours to match, and skip the next step)
push the new build.prop and build.trout.prop to /system/
delete /system/app/Maps.apk
delete /system/sd/app/com.google.android.maps.apk if present
delete /system/sd/dalvik-cache/data@app@com.google.android.apps.maps.apk@classes. dex
REBOOT you have to reboot for the phone to re-read the build props
install the new maps.apk --- i did adb install <path-to-Maps.apk>
if you do not get Success then you missed something.

update: after all is working.. you may put your old build props back

i got it to work on my mt3g simply by deleting the maps.apk file and pushing the new maps.apk file and then rebooting... all worked fine...

awesome, got it to work, though I did notice when you try to select a contact the window wont pop up and everything slows down, but if you type out your contacts name it works fine

a cople pages back there is a post that has directions with a link to a download, i downloaded that file unziped it and pulled build.prop, build.trout.prop, and Maps.apk out of it and placed them on my sdcard.
then i followed the directions on the previous page called "complete idiots guide". the only thing i had to do differently is reboot after i installed the new maps. it worked great. but im on a g1. i dont think it should be different for a magic

It was working for me, but after a few hours the Navigate option is gone.

No go here either. Running cm 4.2.3.1, did exactly as the instructions say and no nav option.

I don't have the Navigate option too but when I manually tell it a starting and destination points in the US it appears... AND its even translated to my native language (I live in Bulgaria) XD

Come on Google, get some more maps and release it to Europe, your almost there ^___^

I just installed it on my MyTouch3G running Dwang's v1.11 Donut rom. Works like a charm, voice guidance and all. Props to all those who helped make this work this is awesome.

Edit: When I pushed the app by typing the 'install' command in adb shell, the nav option did not appear. However I tried installing the map.apk through root explorer on the phone itself and when I rebooted, it was there. Earlier in this thread someone else mentioned the same occurrence, so I suggest if the nav option did not pop up, try installing the map.apk through the app manager on your phone. Cheers.
