Default The "links to HD2 reviews" thread

Post links here to any HD2 reviews that you find interesting.

Here's one at Gizmodo: http://gizmodo.com/5400593/htc-touch...view-a-tragedy The general tone is "HTC made a valiant but ultimately doomed attempt to hide Windows Mobile - why didn't they just use a proper OS?"

And here's a fairly in-depth review at techradar: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pho...-647049/review - they say they wanted to give the phone four and a half out of five (putting it on a par with the iPhone 3GS and Hero) but couldn't quite bring themselves to do it.

Great review that covers so much.

It has loads of comparisons and sample picture and videos.

Quite long but that's not a bad thing. At least not for me.

It pains me to have to say that I agree with Gizmodo's review in general, from what I've seen.

The HD2 is the best WM phone out there, there's no doubt about it. But it's being utterly crippled by WM6.5. HTC's done a fine job covering up WM's horrendous user interface, but they don't have 100% coverage. Sooner or later, you're going to find an area of the UI that HTC hasn't covered up, and you'll be subjected to the full horror of WM's archaic default interface.

It's pretty clear by now that this phone was originally destined for WM7, but was shoehorned into 6.5 after WM7 was delayed to late next year. It's a shame, because it seems as if WM7 would have been a significantly better fit for what is otherwise a stunning device.

to whoever gives a good review of iphone against HD2, it is entirely a personal opinion, just like I feel that HD2 is superior to Iphone in so many important aspects. Come on, iphone is more like a gadget to me than a HD2 should be like a workhorse phone, this is my entire opinion of course. I've never been a big fan of Iphone for many reasons, and I'm so glad I'm getting the HD2!

Interesting to see that you picked the one negative review out of those available. I have read 4 or more other reviews that are extremely positive in fact mobile-review.net say its the "best of phones". So to say that it is "crippled" by WM 6.5 seems a tad of an over-reaction?
