[Q] confused... where do i start with out of the box android

hi guys, i got my new htc hero yesterday...
i want to root, flash, etc...

can anyone help me where to start???

i am running windows 7 x64 and already got the x64 drivers someone made. the device is installed when connecten.

i really am confused on how to begin with whatever...

what do i do first? recovery image, then root, unlock spl then custom rom/apps/etc?

but how do i flash the recovery rom because when i enter the first command to enter bootloader it says:

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
error: closed

please can someone sum up the posts i need to do the things i want? there are so many

and you figured the development thread is the best place for this?
and you think NOT telling us what exactly the "first command to enter bootloader" is was a good idea?
and you figured NOT telling us the software versions of you hero would speed up the process of helping you?

You should probably do a little more research and deductive reasoning before making a post like this.

First and foremost: Are you on a CDMA or GSM hero?
