Default taking some power back from SE

After a few phone calls and seeing I was not going to get anywhere with the denial approach from SE regarding cracked case, I decided to Super Glue the crack as there was quite a bit of play occurring in the case each time I opened up the keyboard.

I used the gel so as not to have any glue "runs" into the phone. I gently forced the crack open, squeezed in a little of the glue and held it for a minute and hey presto!! Been a couple of months now and has not re-cracked, no more play in case when using keyboard and you really need to look hard to find the crack.

This in no way lets SE off the hook, but when you are farting against thunder and things are getting worse, sometimes you just need to do something positive to take back the power.

SE have lost another loyal customer in me (P800, P990, X1) and will be going HTC or similar from now on.

while on this self repair note, Irbpereira mentioned how steelwool/brillo would clean up the back cover of the black X1 to remove horrible scratched look - this really works and you are left with a dark metal buff finish that looks the part and will never suffer those scratches again, cheers!

I don't think anything can be more awesome than my spare X1 developing a huge crack... WHILE IN STORAGE.

Yes, this phone has been sat in its packaging from the repair centre tucked safely into a dark drawer at room temp.

I was amazed to see the giant crack considering the phone has not been handled other then for the initial 10 minute or so over a year ago.

Its been a while since ive been to this part of xda. i saw this thread and figure id share my experiences

i sent mine back to SE for cracks a long time ago back when mine was in warranty. They sent it back unfixed and claimed there was water damage even though i cant recall it ever getting wet (or even close to water for that matter).

When they wouldnt fix it I bought a housing off the internet for around $60. it worked until i got the dreaded ribbon cable failure

i didnt realize other people were having ribbon cable failure in addition to me

Bottom line is im through with SE, the F'ed me bad bc i paid full price for this phone. It wouldnt even last me a whole year!

Since then i had bought a tilt2 and now a captivate and couldnt have been happier with those devices

Hmm my X1 developed two cracks to plus a bunch of little scratches. Also in Holland, I'm going to dig up the warranty + receipt. I doubt I'm in the position but I'm considering demanding an other phone without these stupid issues..

Nope, you're not the only one. Here also the touch sensor went like dead a month ago.

Edit: is there something like a mass / class lawsuit? I'd like to join in the queue.
