Default [Widget] - Singapore Bus arrival time - V1.5 out 20Apr10

Hi everyone,

I have developed a bus arrival time widget for windows mobile as i cant seem to find any on the marketplace/web.

You can download it at nichola.110mb.com/wm/
Mirror

Please help to test it out and report any bugs.

Click on the stop name in the query to add a bookmark. You should see a tick.

Cheers.
SBS Bus Time

Get bus arrival timing for buses in Singapore

Install Instruction
  • Download the .wgt file and transfer it to your phone
  • Install it using File Manager like when your installing a .cab file
Samsung Phone i.e. OMNIA II
  1. Install total commander or other file manager.
  2. Browse to the location where the .wgt file is using the file manager
  3. Use the "Open With" option and choose Windowswmwidgetinstaller.exe
  4. Widget should begin installing
Other i.e. cooked rom without Widget Engine
  1. Download and install enable_widgets_wm6.5.cab (Download), which will updates your phone with registry settings for widgets.
  2. Try installing the wgt file now.
  3. If it does not work, try the Samsung Method.
If the file "Windowswmwidgetinstaller.exe" exists does not exist,
  1. You do not have the Widget Engine installed in your rom. You should find a rom with the whole package or try add_widget_engine_v2.cab (Download). This will install all the required files and registry entries
  2. Soft reset and try to install a widget
  3. It should now work

actually there are alternatives like:

http://sbsnextbus.appspot.com/

http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/mobilei...45)/index.aspx

just need to access the website using your phone..

Yup, I always use sbsnextbus.appspot.com
But wont it be great when it was made into an app.
Will be better if googlemap can link up to all the bustops.

Its faster to use an app as compared to firing up a browser and loading the page then search for the bus stop number. Plus app can support bookmarks.

I am currently querying and parsing the bus times from those 2 sites that you mentioned. One reason why i wrote the app is that with my HD2 i have to zoom in, key in the bus stop code, click go and zoom in again to read the information. another was that the mobileiris only shows one bus at a time and the back button brings us to the stop query page.

Additionally, i have also planned to include function like bookmark and favorite.

favorite: i can take either bus A from stop 1 and bus B from stop 2 home. So i can favorite them and see which comes faster.

I would like to provide this function but the API does not allow access to GPS or the location service.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

heres a quick update on the progress for version 1.2

update check function is complete.

will begin to work on the bookmark feature.

version 1.2 will be released once its done.

cheers.
