Unhappy 3G/EDGE/GPRS not working with CyanogenMod and Baseband 62.47S.20.17U_2.22.19.07I

Hi,
I have a problem with my HTC Magic (Sapphire). I think my hardware is a pre-release version from Vodafone (Italy)...
With CyanogenMod (v4.2.14.1) the 3G/EDGE/GPRS is not working at all!

Info:
  • Sapphire PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
  • HBOOT-1.33.0003 (SAPP10000)
  • CPLD-11
  • RADIO-2.22.19.07I
  • Mar 23 2009,20:43:30

So my Baseband info is: 62.47S.20.17U_2.22.19.07I

When I configure APN (these are correct) I can't go to Internet (3G icon don't appear in the upper toolbar). With previous original Vodafone firmware I was able to surf.

Please help me,
thanks,
thebis

I can confirm this. Using 32A, from Vodafone Romania. I used AmonRa's tutorial to remove the perfected SPL, then applied the latest stable CyanogenMod: 4.2.14.1. In Wireless Controls, also there are two options missing: Enable only 3G, and Always on mobile internet connection.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thank you,
Cosmin

Default Not a hardware problem

I think your problem is that you don't have correctly set up the APN (Access point) which is necessary to access to the Internet using the GSM connexion.
Are you able to make phone calls and to access the Internet over Wi-Fi?
Samsung Galaxy S III (intl) (2nd phone) [Stock TouchWiz] won Aug.17 2012
HTC One X (Main phone) [Stock HTC Sense 4.1] bought Aug.04 2012
Asus Eee Pad Transformer (Tablet) [CyanogenMod 10 Nightly] bought Jun.09 2011
HTC Desire HD (Given to relative) [Stock HTC Sense 3.5] bought Oct.26 2010
HTC Magic 32B (Retired) [CyanogenMod 6.1] bought Jun.13 2009

I have now AmonRA's ROM and it's working, same settings. It's weird, I don't see anyone else complaining about this...

I confirm that is not an APN setting problem. I have the same setting as my friend's HTC Sapphire with a more recent baseband... and mine is not working

Here it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548379

It's not CyanogenMod, however. It's AmonRA, it works fine so far. Please let me know if you have any problems installing it...

Update:
Since you are already able to flash a ROM, I guess that's all there is to it, skip the first (~10?) steps. Just make sure you have the right radio, and install the ROM.

Can someone, more knowledgeable than me, confirm that the radio and the ROM must match?

Here's my setup:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.20.17

WARNING: I see you have a different board than mine. I have 32A, you have 32B. Don't flash the wrong firmware, it will BRICK the phone.

I was using CurseSence for about a week after Rogers kicked out my data connection. I missed Cyanogen so I flashed back to 4.2.14.1 and had data for about 24-36hrs before getting kicked off again. Over the last 36hrs I have been on the phone with Rogers 4 or 5 times now and apparently they now have a mass ticket open for a bunch of Magic users regarding the online waver not working. I am sure it's on Rogers end as my data was working and I had not flashed anything before I lost 3G.
Infuse 4G on Rogers (I do not endorse Rogers in any way, they just happen to be the only one with the plan I want)...

As long as people will accept crap, it will be financially profitable to dispense it. Dick Cavett.[/SIZE]

I've experienced this problem and it turned out to be a bad sim card. I went to the local t-mobile shop and got a replacement and that fixed the problem. See if you can try out a friends sim card to test.
Good Luck!
