@scootley
If you read this, I want to apologize you for my reaction few pages ago. I think you was right.
I criticized your idea, because I was thinking that it isn't fair to modify version of someone's else software, but I simply missed the fact, that versionCode isn't for humans, but for computers. It's not for humans, so shouldn't be treated as "normal version", I shouldn't think about your idea as about "version hijacking". And it's for computers, so it has its responsibilities i.e. Android assumption is that packageName + versionCode identifies something uniquely. It doesn't matter whether there actually are some "weirdnesses" - the fact that I break Android assumptions is enough.
Once again sorry for my closed mind and rudeness, thanks for your idea. I will probably use it in next version of my mod :)
About GPS: I just ignore these issue reports. It's unbelievable what some people have in their minds. They know Maps were created by Google, but they report normal feature requests and issues to me.
Ahh and I just discovered, that this directions-to-contact-issue, which was discussed long ago, is issue of original Maps :) Hah, I was WTFing, because I had no idea, why my modifications might break something like that. Now I know: they don't :)
And I must say I'm disappointed with 4.2 version. I was waiting for this several weeks, because aTrackDog catch someone with it installed: minor version change, about 50 commits ahead, but nothing very new.
