Question HTC WiFi Router - Frequent disconnects.. Why?

I am using HTC WiFi Router to get internet on my PC. I have a D-Link USB WiFi device on my PC end. First, this app works great .. when it works , which is often to say the least. The problem, WF Router disconnects often. I'll be browsing some forums, speedy connection and all.. then suddenly I click a valid page link and it's not doing anything at all. I look on the phone and it shows "Connecting " with the spinning circle... it'll sit there and will not re-connect. I have to manually "stop" the connection, then manually press "Start" to get it to work again. a few minutes later... it has disconnected yet again. Sometimes I can go a few hours before this happens. Sometimes (like the very last time) it wont disconnect when I hit Stop . It'll sit there saying " Stopping" .. I waited 2 minutes before I finally used FDC Task Man to end the process.. then I restarted it to connect again (which worked). On the PC end, it'll continue to show "Signal Strength Very Good @ 11Mbps" so it has to be on the phones end. There is nothing else running on the phone that would interfere with Wifi. Just messaging and Contacts. Same ol.. and no, I am not getting messages. It's usually late at night.

One other question related to the D-Link USB WiFi adaptor. This is one of those that looks like a keychain usb thumb drive. I have no idea on how to turn this thing off. There is no option in the D-link config, it just goes to Network adaptor properties/config. I used to just unplug it, but the very last time I unplugged it, my computer just up and totally restarted itself... yep right from the boot screen. When it finally booted back up, XP gave me a message about "Windows has recovered from a fatal error" .So, I'm not doing that again.

I beleive its a hidden setting in windows mobile, that disconnects the wifi to save the battery. thats what im thinkin. My HTC Tilt 2 does the same thing. it dont turn the wifi off, it just disconnects from the router. Hopefully there is a .cab fix for it, like the message sent notice it shows that i found

link to fix i found that works http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=7260614

Yes, I think it's a "feature" of Windows Mobile.

Try setting Power Mode to Best Performance so it won't manage the power settings and kill WiFi:
Open Start > Settings > Connections > WiFi > Advanced > Power Mode
Drag the slider to the "Best Performance"
Hit OK to close the settings

I have a Verizon Touchpro 2 and i have found that mine 2 has been cutting off. So I searched for a answer I found that I had to change power setting. To get to this menu click on START->SETTINGS->SYSTEM->POWER

Then when the menu comes up click on backlight
unclick or change
TURN OFF DEVICE IF NOT USED UNDER FOR.....
OR CHANGE TO HIGHER TIME.
NOTE THAT THIS WILL EAT UP YOUR BATTERY SO I RECOMMEND ONLY UNCLICKINGING THE BOX THAT SAYS ON EXTERNAL POWER USE.....NOT ON BATTERY POWER.

HOPE THIS WORKS!!!!
