I have the same problem sometimes.
There are 3 situations I met.
(1) Wierd color screen with no response.
(2) An error message shows after "Press the DPad".
(3) A Successful boot.
Either (1) and (2) will happen if the boot text doesn't show immediately after the vibration of Haret Run. If the boot text shows immediately (maybe within 5 seconds) after the vibration, there will be a successful boot. Though I don't know which time it will success, I always press the DPad just after the vibration. If it fails, I will do soft reset and try again (or give up
I change only zImage to zImage-eclair in the default-polaris.txt when using polymod 2.1g. For Myn's Warm Donut, I change nothing.
So, you may do more tries.
I use fat32/Ext2/Ext2.
Although the speed of polymod improved, still much slower than the Myn's. But the Myn's seems to have more little problems on Polaris.
Sorry for my English.
