The link i posted was too someones custom rom. The thread contains lots of themes and ad-ons. Everything is already uploaded, and the one that says 'Both Animations' followed by 'Bouny menu' and 'Window Transition'. I hope you dont mind tearing apart the ROM, but on the other hand, theres also lockscreens and possible color changes. This thread could be valuable in the making of custom 2.1 themes that we've been looking for. All the pieces are there, especially if its just a matter of porting something from 1.56 to 2.1 or whatever it takes to make the old tidbits (such as icon highlight color change or bouncy menus) work with the new. Or another rom with another rom? Whatever the issue is, theres a nice stripdown and at LEAST a beginning.

Search for 'bouncy menu' under the CDMA Hero section (obviously) and its the first thread :)

i would really like the white task bar that normally comes with 2.1, i really like how it looks, anyone know how i could get it? thanks.

Nope it won't mess anything up. Alarm will work just fine.

the alarm works just fine, taking it off on the other hand is a pain. i just tried it twice and i wasnt able to take it off. i had to use a task manager to close it. even then, it kept vibrating until i shut the screen off. anyone know a fix or work around?
