Texting to Numbers in Canonical Format

Because I sync my phone with my Outlook contacts on our server, most of my Contact's telephone numbers are in canonical/international format. E.g., +1 (303) 555-1212.

My Imagio can call numbers in this format but it will not send text messages to a number with a + in front of it. Other than manually removing the + sign, has anyone else not only experienced this issue but fixed it as well?

You could convert your numbers to standard format, then use Assisted Dialing in the dialer to add the +1 back in when you actually make phone calls.
