htc mail and google mail

how can I set up the htc mail app to work with gmail as it only gives me the option for imap or other ???

Why would you want to do that? You can add more than one Google Mail account to Google Mail app.

Unless you're after nice HTC Mail widget...

Under imap just put your gmail address and pass. And you are set...
