Default How are you able to activate the Compose field?

Hi all,

I had issues with the touchscreen, especially related to the N1 not responding to touches or text typing in the messaging Compose field. And, very often, the send button didn't respond at all.

I did a hard reset and the typing appears to be better, plus the send button now works every time. But, now I can only "activate" the compose field by using the trackball to select and click on it. Then, I can type text using the touchscreen (of course).

I thought that touching inside the compose field brought up the keyboard before, but maybe it never worked and that was really my problem (a misunderstanding of how to open this field). I've not found the answer yet, so perhaps someone can let me know if simply touching inside the compose field works for them?

Thanks much,

Ross

** Additional info - I just found, in the PDF Nexus One instructions, that it says "touch the composition field" to type a message. So, apparently, the hard reset killed this function for mine...

When I was having this problem and it comes and it goes. I simply hit the power button to put the phone to sleep. Then hit it again and unlocked it and the touchscreen worked perfectly. The issue seemed to be ongoing and the fix was irritating but I liked the phone to much to really give up on it. However due to an itch for the Sense UI I have given the Nexus One and have gotten an HTC Lengend and haven't had any of the issues I had on the N1.
