Default Using Fingertips on the Touch Screen

Hey XDA mates,

Just got a question for you guys. When I use my fingertips (index finger) on the touch screen (not my fingernail but just below it), it's not as responsive as using the flat part of your finger. Does this happen to you? Every time I use my fingertip to scroll around, it would always accidently open an app or accidently open up a link. If i use my thumb by the flat surface, it's fine as well.

Example:

The fingertip I was talking about is labelled "A" which I am having problems scrolling around with (seems like not sensing that part of the finger sometimes). If i use the part labelled "B", it's fine and 'connects' with my finger. It's fine when I press harder using "A" but that's cuz it is sensing more of my finger.

Is it same as you guys?

I'm happy someone is noticing this too. I'm having the exact same issue as you. I was using the iPhone before this, and I think its digitizer is far better than the X10. These problems are making me miss my iPhone, but I can't go back to a screen that small

Yea.. I did not come from the iPhone but I do play with my friend's iPhone sometimes and the screen is VERY sensitivity to touch which I like. The X10 is sensitive but not at the fingertips..

I wonder if this is because of the screen protector ? It make the finger less close to the screen, and thus reduce the sensitivity ? On iphone I have the same experience, and I ended up using no screen protector for the iphone. But the plastic screen on X10 doesn't make me feel comfortable using it without any protection...

I had the iPhone 3G with no 3rd party screen protector or whatever, and really didn't notice any problems like this.

Yep, that's my point, perhaps I did not make it clear enough, I'll rephrase it :

The screen protector reduce the sensitivity of the touch screen (both iphone and x10).

The x10 have one on already, anyone care to try removing it and report back ?

I have the same problems too, I need to use 'part B' of my finger, rather than 'part A'.

EDIT: This thread has more info on the protective screen, I'm tempted to do it but really don't wannt scratch the screen.

Default No problemo!

Hey guys,

Just to let you know, I removed the pre-applied screen protector the day I received my phone (just over a week ago). I did experience the same fingertip issue before removal, but since I have removed the protector I have no problems using my fingertips. Also, the screen feels a lot smoother to touch and is more sensitive.

Oh, a little note to quanganhle90, the screen is actually mineral glass not plastic. It only feels plastic because of the pre-applied screen protector.

I find it really hard to hit the single page digits of this site on the X10 using opera mini, more than one digit or letter is ok but one alone is real hard. Maybe the site needs bigger digits for mobile viewing
