Default Debranding may damage your phone!

Ok guys, I see a lot of people in here debranding the phones but dont know what they are talking about.

1: All the methods you have listed will not debrand a Orange UK handset, because the files that you should replace don't exist (all the files will start with 'ICON'). So far no one seems to have worked this out or has tried to find a workaround.

2: According to the SE rep I spoke with if you debrand your phone it may cause serious issues when Sony do send down updates to the device, I was told that debranded phones may to be able to be reflashed and may corrupt. When I asked why he said it had something to do with a new version of Android being made available.

I just thought I should let you guys know, and if anyone can try debrand a Orange handset (I will risk it)

Regards

UHAX

1. The Orange files are there.

2. Funnily enough the files used to debrand are from Sony Ericsson and we use SEUS which is also their tool.

Can you please clarify on point 1

Because I have one of these phones and I can tell you, they are not anywhere on my system.

I have tested this Both under XP and Windows 7

The DB directory only displays a number of small files all starting with 'ICON'

Did you update before looking for the files?
Did you use the new method with PC Companion?

And I make sure I just searched both systems, the files do not exist.

Any ideas?

Default Re: Debranding may damage your phone!

In order to get the files, you can reinstall your current firmware with SEUS, this will make it download the files to your db folder, and you're good to go. Worked for me.

As I have said

There are no updates available.

For the SEUS or SEPC

I have tried both methods.

Thats why I was wanting someone to post all the files!!!!!!!!!!!
