Default Disabling gmail service

I've registered my gmail account with the gmail application but was wondering how I would go about dissociating my account from the app. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, what is the best way to get real push gmail/hotmail? What are the settings I should be using? Is it better to use the default android email application for push email or the gmail app?

Thanks!

Thanks I will give that a try.

Also, is there a way to get push email from gmail through the default email app (not gmail app)?
