DONATE TO ME
Default Price Leaks from Best Buy

Quote:
As of last week, Sprint made it available for customers to sign up and receive updates on when the HTC Evo 4G would release. Today, Best Buy has done the same over at their website.

Now that Best Buy was officially talking about the HTC Evo 4G I thought I drop by one of their outlets and see if they had any information to share. A Best Buy rep, from the Geek Squad, had advised that they will be selling the HTC Evo 4G on a $199 Sprint contract plan. He had no further information other than this but we can deduce it must be the 2 year plan. So now that we know it is priced similar to the Verizon HTC Incredible (and the now defunct Verizon Nexus One), it looks like the final decision would be based on which carrier you prefer.

OZCAR guesses that customers will more than likely choose their new Android smartphone based on this criteria since the phones are almost evenly matched. Personally I would opt for the Sprint HTC Evo 4G as it does have a few added extras.
Sprint Evo 4G(Rooted)

Evo Links - NAND Root - 2.2 Root - (un)Root - Recovery - Roms - Radio - NexTANG Theme

Excellent! That's about what I was hoping though I was afraid they'd put it like the TP2. A buddy of mine has the HD2 and I was checking it out since it should be pretty similar. I liked the size, didn't seem obnoxious in my pocket. Can't wait!

Default This site is EXTREEMLY duboius

This site is not a trusted site for information. If the $199 price point is accurate I will be extreemly happy, but honestly I am expecting to hear $249 on May 19, 2010.

May 19th, 2010? Just wondering if you read that date somewhere or if you are just speculating? The "rumor" I believe Engadget was stating is a potential release date of June 6th or 13th. May would be wonderful, but I'm not holding out too much hope for that date as of now...
Device: HTC Evo 4G
Hardware Revision: 002
ROM: Fresh 3.3.0.1
PRI: 1.77_003

Device History: AT&T Fuze w/ EnergyROM | AT&T Tilt

Again, June 6th/13th is the release of the phone to sale to the public. Mid-May is when the rumored date that Sprint will release all pricing/plan/formal release date.

In short, May is when Sprint will start pushing the device to the public, letting us know when it will be released, how much it will cost, and the plan details for it.

June 6th/13th will be when the phone is released so that you, me and John Doe may purchase it.

FroYo (Android 2.2) is expected to be announced on May 19th as well. I'm curious to see the upgrade path for the EVO 4G to Android 2.2. Hopefully it won't be one of those endless waits for an upgrade. Maybe they'll switch to 2.2 last minute before release(probably not...)

This is very unlikely, and has been discussed quite a bit. The Evo will be shipping most likely with a modified version of 2.1 that supports 4G, however --

The Evo team has been rumored to be working very closely with FroYo, and will support it upon its release. The Evo, although not shipping with 2.2, will receive the update in a very timely manner (after the N1, of course)

Gotta remember this is Sprint's flagship device, and Dan's baby - there is no way they're going to let this thing fall behind in any way of any other device.
