Default 2x GMAIL notifications and is there a way to Switch Phone button?

So, I logged in with my GMail account upon loading the phone for the first time. Well I wanted to use the nifty Sense email widget and it asked me to log in again so I did. Well I am getting dual notifications of emails now and I cannot figure out how to remove the second entry of my GMail. I input my company email info and it went under Settings > Account. When I look there, a Google account is listed and when i try to remove it is says you must reset the phone to remove this account. How can I unload the second instance of GMail from the Mail app and leave the original account alone?

Also, is there a way to switch the App Drawer button with the Phone button?

Thanks

to get gmail out of the Mail app, open the mail app, then menu -> account list and pick your gmail account, then menu -> settings -> delete account.

Can't help on the second front tho, good luck!

if you dont want the 2x notifications, you dont need to delete the Gmail account from the stock app (witch is automatic if you are signed into google)just turn off all the notifications in the stock google mail app.

I had the same thing but I just went to settings in the HTC Mail app and turned off notifications then swapped the mail app on the home screen with the gmail app since I like the gmail one better. That way I just get the gmail notifications which I like better and I can still use the HTC Mail widget, although I'm still undecided on whether I'll keep the widget or not.
