Default Shutting up OTA update requests

Since this morning, my Incredible has been asking me to apply an OTA update. I'm wary of doing this (in case it closes a useful exploit), but it's getting very insistent (asking every few minutes). So far I've been trying to kill processes that look like they might apply here:

- MCC_OTA: didn't work, but hasn't restarted

- HTC Checkin Service: didn't work, and did restart

I don't know if my paranoia is justified here, but I'd hate to lose the chance to properly control my phone.

I ignored it as well although I have yet to get a repeated request to install it.

Edit: Aaaand right as I said that it popped up.

im pretty sure you can get rid of the update by wiping cache in recovery.

now it might try to update and download again later.

And crap, it just asked again.

The "HTC Checkin Service" is running again, too.

This is getting very annoying. :(

My son was using my phone and forgot to tell him not to update my phone if the update prompt show up and now my phone is updated. I hope I will still be able to root my phone.

I would really doubt that this will ruin rooting. its just a simple MR update.
